I used to be a part of this group... then I went inactive. I am a 43 year old, single, white male (not an angry one), with 3 great kids. I was born and raised in a somewhat unorthodox Mormon family in SLC. I have a BA from the University of Utah and still reside in the Salt Lake Valley. I would like to get together with other happy, easy-going people. I enjoy books, movies, music, hiking, good food and drink and conversation. I started becoming disenchanted with the Mormon church as a young missionary in Mexico - which was a great 'Motorcycle Diaries' experience for me, but I didn't completely break from 'the church' until I was 35 years old. My 'righteous' wife divorced me 2 years later. My local church leaders did nothing to help me explain to her that we were married to each other, not to a church organization. In spite of everything, I have no bitterness towards the church. In fact, I admire the emergency aid the church provides. I am, however frightened by the political power that the church excersises; not only in Utah, but in national and international spheres ( California Prop 8 for example). I am much happier without any religion in my life, and would probably be best described as a humanistic atheist. I will always do my best to keep my comments thoughtful and respectful. Cheers! Brent. |

Hey, I'm in the Midwest, but I'm an exmo and I love to have fun. I've been here a few years on and off. Mostly on. Since about 2006 maybe.
Humans still really haven't gotten over their fascination with watching fires.
